Individuals, companies and organizations
who meet the criteria in the following information and who are
members of The Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce, Inc. in
good standing are eligible to receive annual awards. Presentation
of awards take place at the Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner and
Auction in March.
Beautification Award: This award is
presented annually to developers and commercial property owners
who have constructed new or made exterior improvements to building
facades which resulted in improving the overall appearance of
the greater Southington community. Nominations should include
a brief description of the total project completed, action steps
taken, timeframe to complete project, and be accompanied by before
and after photos.
Business Person of the Year, "Riccio Brothers
Award": This award is presented annually in honor of the twins,
Ralph and Vito Riccio for their generosity, friendship and commitment
to the greater Southington community. Collectively, Ralph and
Vito have served almost every social and civic organization of
the community. Their slogan for giving so much to their community
is inscribed in the sidewalk still today in front of their old
store on North Main Street, "Did You Riccio Today?" This award
is received by an outstanding business person who has demonstrated
a sound commitment to the greater Southington Community as a business
owner and community volunteer. Nomination should include a brief
description of the individual's business and community accomplishments.
Community Spirit Award: The Community Spirit
Award was initiated in 1994 and is presented annually to an individual,
group of people, or organization who has succeeded in bringing
together a diversity of people for the good of a common cause.
Nominations should include a brief description of the project,
program or event; its purpose and results; key contact person,
and any other information pertinent to the award.
Employee of the Year, "Ann Hauver Award":
This award is presented in honor of Ann Hauver who retired as
Office Manager and Secretary for the Chamber of Commerce in 1993
after 27 years of service. It is awarded to the individual who
exemplifies the ethics and spirit of a local business. Nominations
should include a description of why you would select the individual
citing specifics pertaining to the person's job and community
activities.

- Legislative Breakfast - During
an election year, you can join the Chamber of Commerce for breakfast,
commentary and Q&A's from the Candidates.
- Scholarships for Students - A scholarship
fund was established by the Chamber of Commerce to assist students
in furthering their education. It is the organization's goal
through this program, to help prepare students for their position
as future business leaders in our community. Students who are
employed by a member of the Chamber of Commerce, or whose parents
are employees or a member of the Chamber of Commerce, are eligible
for the scholarship. (other restrictions apply)

The Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce

Plantsville, and Southington, however, there are no geographic
restrictions for businesses interested in joining the Chamber
of Commerce.
